Finding Affordable Health Insurance for Senior Citizens
from: Kyle BesserAs a senior citizen, you may find yourself with a health insurance crisis. When you stop working, you are no longer covered by employer's health insurance, but you need health insurance more than ever before. If you are 65, Medicare covers some of your medical expenses, but there are gaps in what Medicare covers and you may need additional coverage.
Medicare Programs
Once you are 65 years old, you are eligible to enroll in Medicare. Medicare can include several programs:
*Medicare Part A for seniors helps cover inpatient hospital care, nursing home care, hospice care, and some home health care. Most people pay for this coverage through taxes, so they do not have to pay a deductible or monthly premium.
*Medicare Part B for seniors helps cover doctor services, outpatient hospital care, medical equipment, physical and occupational therapy and some home health care. Most people pay an annual deductible and a monthly premium for this health plan.
*Medicare Part C for seniors, Medicare Advantage Plan for seniors, offers you more choices among health plans and extends your benefits.
*Medicare Part D for seniors is prescription drug coverage.
In addition, you may need MediGap coverage for seniors, which is health insurance that covers expenses Medicare does not.
Finding Affordable Health Insurance for Senior Citizens
Health insurance for senior citizens can be confusing. One of the easiest ways to learn about and compare health insurance policies is via the internet. Insurance comparison websites can help you gain a clearer picture of what health insurance you need and help you find that insurance at a reasonable rate.
When you are ready to receive health insurance quotes, all you need to do is go to an insurance comparison website and complete a simple form with information about yourself and your insurance needs. Once you submit the form, you will receive quotes for health insurance from multiple insurance companies. At many of the insurance comparison websites, insurance professionals are available to talk with you and answer any health insurance questions you have.
